My new office

I had been a week in my new office ... an hour of drive and incremental sleep in the bus.

The morning coffee (made by someone else) ... new faces all around (mostly European - Dubai is after all a foreign country) and an amazing view of the polluted skyline from my seat on the 31st floor - focus and you can penetrate the SO2 and CO2 cloud to have a glimpse of the sea as well; I was happy.

There was a 'garden' that I used to go past every morning ... surprisingly they (someone in my office) had restricted the entry by glass casings - morons.
It was only after a week that some told me that there is a tiger in my office ... and am not referring to myself.
I realized that they (someone in my office) have housed a tiger .. and another tiger ... or maybe a tigress in the garden.
I went past their abode for a week and did not even notice them ... yet again I realized that the cosmopolitan culture has made people so self centered that no one cares who stays near you.
I suddenly felt so lonely ... even the tiger is not alone in Dubai.
To be continued ....

Do I know me

For the last 2 months I hve been trying to answer this question.
Yes I do .. and I need to prove it ... coz this is what it takes to get into an MBA.

And if ever you doubt any aspect of your life, cook it.
Writing essays for B schools have brought out the other one in me ... the one that is manipulative, thinking, has all the false emotions for welfare of the society and of course a glib liar.

But one more think it has done is to make me think of the days that have gone past and how I have wasted a lot of good work that I used to do or a lot of things I could have done. It made me realize that I am an old man now ... and now those unfinished works can be completed only by my son (just like aka Shahrukh did for aka Anupam in DDLJ).

First innings

I would like to open my blog with the couple of statements that still inspire me

Santiago said in the 'Old man and the sea' , 'A man can be destroyed but he cannot be defeated.'
How true !!

One of my seniors had opened his extempore in class 7 with the statement ,' I was yearning for a pair of slippers when I met a man who had no legs.'
He received an applaud with the first line.

and finally Wordsworth had said,
'The woods are lonely dark and deep
But there are promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep,
Miles to go before I sleep.'
